Our story
Built for impact
RiseWorks is a Miami-based Public Benefit Corporation providing dedicated visual storytelling teams to mission-driven organizations on subscription.
The Origin
From the Good Miami Project to RiseWorks
RiseWorks grew out of the Good Miami Project — a pro bono photography initiative launched during the pandemic in 2020. Over five years, we worked with more than 60 Miami nonprofits, delivering tens of thousands of images that powered fundraising campaigns, volunteer drives, and even Congressional testimony. What we learned was simple and urgent: nonprofits do extraordinary work, but almost none of them can afford to tell that story consistently. RiseWorks was built to fix that.

The problem
An impossible trade-off
Mission-driven organizations spend 48% of creative budgets on coordination overhead. Stories go untold. Communities don't see impact. Mission growth stalls.

Agencies
World-class creative
$15K–$50K per project, transactional, no continuity

Freelancers
Affordable
Inconsistent, heavy coordination burden

In-House
Institutional knowledge
$120K+ for limited skills, bandwidth constraints

DIY

Time-intensive, amateur quality, 68% abandonment rate
What we do
Embedded teams, not one-off projects
We embed visual storytelling teams — photographers, filmmakers, and producers — directly into mission-driven organizations on a monthly subscription. No project-by-project pricing. No agency markups. Just a dedicated creative partner that shows up twice a month, captures the real work, and helps you turn it into content that moves people to act. We call these sessions Creative Blocks: each one is a half-day shoot — photo, video, or series — that clients mix and match based on what they need.
Every engagement starts with strategy. We help organizations find their stories, build a narrative framework, and create a distribution plan so nothing sits on a hard drive. Then we produce, edit, and package content for every channel — social, email, web, grants, events — so your team can focus on the mission, not the content calendar.
Our structure
Why we're built this way
RiseWorks is a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation. That's not a marketing label — it's a legal structure that requires us to balance profit with positive impact. We exist to build critical infrastructure for nonprofit storytelling, the same way the Farm Security Administration photographers built the visual record of America during the New Deal. We're carrying that documentary tradition forward for the multiplatform era — same principles of truth, dignity, and narrative craft, applied to video, photo, series, and social.
Our creators
Salaried employees, not gig workers
Our creators aren't freelancers — they're salaried employees with benefits and career growth. We realized early on that the biggest cost in production is labor, but the people doing the work are often barely getting by. A photographer might charge $1,500 for a day rate but only book a handful of days a month. Our subscription model gives us predictable revenue, which means we can hire full-time. Creators earn less per day but more per year — and they get health insurance, equipment, professional development, and training from Pulitzer Prize–winning photographers through our Photo Society network. Sustainable creative careers shouldn't require gig-to-gig instability.

The technology
StoryOS: from one shoot to a full content package
Behind the fieldwork is StoryOS — our AI-powered content platform that turns a single shoot into a full distribution package: clips, show notes, thumbnails, captions, and platform-optimized formats. We use technology to speed up the boring parts so our humans can focus on the parts that matter: being present, building trust, and telling stories that are true.
